Ice Cream
Our ice cream is custom made for us by The Big Dipper in Prospect, CT. They are not an allergen free facility, but follow all state guidelines and take extra precaution to ensure no cross contamination happens with our flavors. Additionally, we provide the mix in’s (Oreos, brownies, etc.) for them to ensure those products are gluten and nut friendly. We go to great lengths to make sure all products used are safe, but please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
About A La Mode ✨
This one is for the allergy kids of all ages.
My name is Alexis Sone and this is my very own dream brought to life. Growing up with an anaphylactic allergy to every kind of nut in the 90's/early 2000's was not for the weak, but little did I know it would be the inspiration that would bring A La Mode Dessert & Ice Cream to life.
I studied Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales before starting my first venture in 2014. It was a partnership where I had many accomplishments, learned many lessons, and met the love of my life. In 2020 I was diagnosed with a severe wheat allergy. It was said that it was due to overexposure breathing in flour every day, but realistically, I probably had it my whole life and never realized. I left my partnership, did some soul searching and ultimately realized that my passion and purpose was to feed people. Bringing joy to people through food, especially food that I made, is what has always made me happy.
As an adult, finding safe options out to eat has come a long way, but there are still so many things that I miss out on. This is a feeling that anyone with an allergy knows too well. The opportunity to be considered a safe place for people with numerous allergies is an honor. Children and adults get to walk in and pick out a sweet treat, get an ice cream cone, or order a birthday cake, some for the very first time ever, and to be a part of that is so beyond special.
